June Favourites

Another month has come and gone! I can't believe that we're getting through this year so quickly, it's kind of frightening. This month I have a good array of favourites for you; makeup, nails, skincare, music and movies have all found a spot on the list.

Rimmel Eyeshadow Stick in Bulletproof Beige
This wasn't a new purchase this month but I've been wearing it a lot more and am really loving it. I use this as a simple wash of colour over the eyelid for more simple days or I can use it as a base for other eyeshadows to build off of. It doesn't crease and it doesn't disappear, so it's perfect for a long wearing eye look.

Milani Baked Blus in Dolce Pink
I'm not usually one for blush but I've been trying to get into it lately so that I can liven up my often dead looking complexion. This blush is good because it's not too colourful and is therefore hard to stuff up. That's what has always frightened me about blush, that I would end up looking like a clown. It has quite a lot of shimmer in it, which I don't mind most of the time, but it is something to watch out for.

Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish in Temptress
This is a beautiful deep pink shade, which is the perfect pink for winter. It is still bright so that you feel cheerful when you look at it but it is no where near neon or pastel (both of which are associated with the warmer months). The formula of this is really good, I wore it with a top coat for just over a week. There was very minimal chipping in the first couple of days, which made me doubt the formula, but then it did not chip any further.

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil
I'm running out of my Clinique makeup remover so I decided to try this. The girl in the shop described it as 'gentle acid' because it removes everything so easily. Don't let that description put you off because it's fantastic and gentle on the skin. I have quite sensitive skin and eyes and it doesn't burn my eyes or leave my skin red and blotchy. I just massage it in and rinse off and any trace of makeup is gone.

Ed Sheeran's Album X
I'm a big Ed Sheeran fan so I was understandably excited when he brought out his newest album a few days ago. Off the top of my head I can't think of one song I do not like on the album. It's a good mix of his slower songs, his version of rap songs and some more upbeat stuff. My favourites right now are probably 'Don't', 'Take It Back' and 'All of the Stars' from the Fault in Our Stars. Oh great segue!

The Fault in Our Stars
This is one of my favourite books ever, I read it when it first came out and it got me into John Green and his books. I heard great things before the movie came out, which eased my fears that it would ruin an awesome book. My friend and I went on a day off school, armed with tissues, and loved it. It's a really beautiful movie that is very true to the book. I definitely needed the tissues but I am proud to say that I didn't sob like some of the people in the theatre.

5 Seconds of Summer's Album
Though I like their music, I'm not a screaming fainting chase them down the street kind of 5SOS fan. Just to clear things up. Their new album dropped (Haha pun. Because dropout is written on the picture? I'm really not funny.) the other day and I really like it. It's very different to Ed Sheeran's as it is more fun and rocky. I think my favourites are 'Good Girls', 'Don't Stop' and '18' at the moment, but that could all change by tomorrow.

I always realise I've forgotten something one I finish these posts, but I think that just about sums up my month of June. Now onto July, which will be a good one because I've been feeling spendy.

Wise Words #2

To be honest, the Cookie Monster used to scare me as a kid. That doesn't stop him from sharing an insightful and playful lesson about friendship.

I hope this has inspired you to think about who you would share your last cookie with.

A Splash of Orange

ASOS Covered Barrel Lock Cross Body Bag | Milly - Arizona Sunset Triangl Bikini Set | River Island Orange Pachy Barely There Heeled Sandals | Clinique Cheek Pop in Peach Pop | Illamasqua Lipstick in Flare | ASOS Scallop Edge iPhone 5 Sleeve | CROSS FRONT WRAP DRESS BY LOVE | Tallulah Collarless Zip Coat |

Chuck Taylor All Star Hi Seasonal | Daniel Sandler Watercolour Fluid Blusher in Trip | SCALLOP CROPPED VEST | CATLINA DRESS BY MOTEL | Kiki K Gratitude Journal | Formula X in New Classic  | ASOS HOLD OUT Leather Heeled Sandals |

Just lately, the colour orange has entered into my life in a big way. All of a sudden I am obsessed with this colour! It's even weirder because it's winter, not the most orange appropriate season. Nevertheless, I have compiled some of my favourite things in the shade and am writing a mental shopping list as I type...

I'm sorry if this gave you the orange fever but look at all of those pretty things, I could not deny you the pleasure of seeing them.

My Top 10 Websites

I would be lying if I told you I am on the internet sparingly. I may have a bit of a problem. Hey, so does most of my generation so I don't feel too bad. I've categorised my favourites and will explain why I love them so:

THE TIME WASTER

Youtube: There is no doubt that I spend most of my internet time watching videos on this enticing site. I have so many people whose videos I adore and watch religiously, but I often watch random things too. As much as I'm into my recent 30 Rock marathons, Youtube keeps calling me back as my main source of entertainment.

THE CONSTANT REFRESHERS

Twitter: There is always something interesting happening on Twitter, whether it's a celebrity fight or an exciting announcement. Plus, I follow people from all over the world so there is always people awake and posting.

Instagram: Sometimes it makes me feel awful about myself (damn those photogenic people) but Instagram is really cool. I get to see all of the fun things that people get up to.

THE MONEY WASTERS:

ASOS: I could window shop on ASOS all day every day. They sell everything I could ever want and range from super expensive to really affordable.

Topshop: If my entire wardrobe were from Topshop, I would be okay because everything is so amazing. I really have to restrain myself from making an order pretty much daily.

Sephora/Mecca: It is probably a good thing that Sephora doesn't ship to Australia, that way I have to keep to browsing on their sight rather than purchasing. I have cheated a little bit with this and included an Australian shop that is similar to Sephora, Mecca, for those times when I want to look at products that I could feasibly buy.

THE BLOG NECESSITIES:

Blogger: To write intense, hard hitting and informative posts like these, of course.

Bloglovin': If you write a blog you have to read blogs and Bloglovin' is a fantastic way to make sure I keep up to date with all of my favourites (you can follow this blog on Bloglovin' if you want, the link is in the sidebar [shameless plug]).

THE NOISE MAKERS:

Soundcloud: If I want to listen to podcasts on my computer rather than off my phone, I will listen to them on here.

Spotify: I can't always buy all of the music I want to listen to so Spotify is a great way to listen to everything I want for free.

The Start of Something New...

First of all, if you starting singing the classic High School Musical song when you read the title can we please be best friends? Good. Now onto the point of this post. I'm starting up a new series of posts on my blog where I share some of my favourite quotes with you.

I have twelve weeks worth of quotes written up and ready to go, so I can't back out now. I don't want to look as though I am forcing the inspiration down your throats, that's not even close to what I am going for. The real aim is to share some love and hopefully make you -whoever is reading this- smile. Tomorrow will be the first and then the other posts will follow every Saturday for the next twelve weeks.

I'm really excited to share this with you and I hope that you take the time to read them, they're not long I promise.

Lust List

I'm a consumer, it's what I do. There's nothing I love more than a good shopping spree and if I managed to pick up all of these products I would be pretty chuffed with myself. I know that this is a ridiculously superficial post but it's really no worse than a haul or a lipgloss review. These are the kinds of things that some people (aka me) love and there is no shame in that. Here's a list of things that I'm dying to own and why:

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
People rave over this foundation and I know that it will be the perfect amount of coverage for me to wear day to day. The idea of wearing a really good quality foundation intrigues me, is it really as good as people spout about all the time? I need to know.

Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette
Look at those colours, they're so pretty. It has the looks set out for you which makes life so much easier for me and all of the colours are nice and useable. Swatches of this in store are really nice and the eyeshadow seems to be of a really good quality.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy
I wrote about the Chanel lipsticks in a previous post and I was saying how much I want to try a Rouge Coco Shine formula. They're moisturising and I think the shade Boy will be a good one for my skin tone. The light pink colouring will match my lips nicely but still make them look gorgeous.

Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder
My skin is so pale that I often look quite dead. My Dad is forever asking if I'm sick when I'm not. What I need is a good bronzer but then most bronzers are too dark and they make me look ridiculous. That's where this light, high quality, not too expensive bronzer comes in.

Origins Clear Improvement Mask
My skin has not been at it's best lately and I'm thinking this mask could be the ticket. It claims to clean out pores and improve the skin, both of which are things that I would like right now. I saw Tanya Burr talking about this mask and that's a good enough recommendation for me.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Midnight
I've been wanting to branch out and try some colour on my eyes but I keep chickening out. This beautiful dark blue could be the perfect transition into being more daring. I've also heard that the Stila liners in general are fantastic so that's a plus.

What's the number one product on your lust list and which of these products do you think I should splurge on first? Tell me in the comments or tweet me on Twitter.

Steal Her Street Style: Emma Stone

I aspire to, one day, be as awesome as Emma Stone. This is why she is the next star that I'm covering in a steal her street style post. Emma has fantastic style, she looks so normal and casual for everyday but then she really steps it up for red carpets. This outfit is really cute and super easy for people with pay checks a little smaller than hers to replicate. Yay!

Jumper: Annie Oversized Vintage Jumper from Boohoo

Jacket: Miss Shop Textured Duffle Coat

Jeans: New Look Supersoft Superskinny Jean

Scarf: Sportsgirl Manic Monday Snood or ASOS Rib Knit Snood

Boots: H By Hudson Lewknor Black Strapped Heeled Ankle Boots

I love doing posts about recreating these simple street style looks but I would also like to branch out and do other fashion posts. Is that something you would be interested in seeing?

Bold Lip Makeup

I am fairly sure this is the general consensus but if I am wearing a bold lipstick I like to keep the rest of my makeup fairly simple. Lately I've been sporting bright pink lips often, so I think I've got my accompanying makeup down pat. I start off with the Benefit Porefessional Primer so that everything will stay in place all day. I go over the top with Almay CC Cream in the shade Light as a base, it doesn't add very much coverage but it does even out the skin tone a lot. Then I go over the top with my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Fair too add more coverage where I need it (hint: on my Rouldoph nose). I finish off my face with a light dusting of Rimmel Stay Matte Powder to keep everything matte and pleasant.

Once again I keep my eyes simple but I really love a good bit of liquid liner. I'm one of those people who much prefers liner to eyeshadow if I have to choose, so it has to be a part of my look. I put a thin line of Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eye Liner along my top lash line without flicking it out or anything. Then I simply curl my lashes and add my holy grail Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara. I fill in my brows lightly with my Pixi Natural Brow Duo to get some definition in my face and then I'm done! I throw on the bright lip of my choosing and in no time at all I'm looking put together and ready to go.

The Battle of the Nude Glosses

There are two go-to nude/slightly pink but still lip coloured lipglosses in my collection. I love them both but for the purposes of this post they are going to have to battle it out.

First up in the ring is the Nyx Butter Gloss in Eclair This was the first of the two glosses that I tried and it quickly became a favourite. The packaging is a little bit cheap, I prefer something with a little more weight to it, but it is not too bad. The applicator is also decent. What makes this product so amazing is the formula, it's really creamy and moisturising while still glossy. It doesn't leave my lips feeling sticky and my hair doesn't get stuck in it as easily as other glosses.

I've spoken about this Maybelline The Elixir in Petal Plush so much lately but I think it deserves even more praise. The formula is nice and not at all sticky, which is the main thing I look for in a gloss. It actually has teeny tiny bits of glitter in it, as opposed to the Nyx one that does not. I think this makes the gloss really pretty because the glitter is not noticeable but it reflects lots of light. The packaging is gorgeous and the applicator works really well.

THE FINAL ROUND -

I'm going to make my choice in a few different categories and then announce my overall winner.

Colour: Maybelline

Packaging: Maybelline

Applicator: Maybelline

Formula: Nyx

I think the winner is clear, as much as I love the butter glosses, the Maybelline The Elixir gloss wins out.

One Disappointing Product

I hate to be a negative nancy but...actually no. Sometimes it's good to have a bit of a moan if you have something you spent your hard earned money on and it sucks. This L'Oreal Shine Caress in Stubborn Plum is one of those things. It's supposed to be both a gloss and a stain and though it stains a little bit it's not terribly shiny. The colour of this does not offend me, it's actually quite pretty. It's not as pigmented as I expected but I still like the colour of the gloss when it is on the lips. The packaging is also really pretty. It's a bit different and really eye catching, I like the certain L'Oreal products that look really luxurious.

Now you know all of the good things I will move onto the very very bad. First of all I need to mention the smell. This thing stinks. It smells like intense chemicals, not nice chemicals (I'm one of those people who enjoys the smell of things like petrol...don't judge) but super gross chemicals. I would like to say it one more time because I feel as though I haven't said it enough. CHEMICALS. Okay, I have one more major issue with this product. I don't like the formula, it's watery and cold. My favourite kinds of glosses are more creamy and this is the complete opposite. The funny formula makes my lips feel all kinds of weird.

I promise it will be back to positivity and rainbows tomorrow but I've got to keep it honest in here.

The Pink Lip

I really love to wear bright pink lipstick. It's the one crazy thing I do with my makeup, if it can be considered crazy, and I love the way it looks so much. I tend to be pretty plain in my outfit choices, so adding a bright lip will often be the standout of my look. Here are some of my favourites:

THE GLOSS

This Maybelline The Elixir in Fuchsia Flourish has the pigmentation of a good lipstick but it is still moisturising and glossy. It's a really nice entry into the world of pink lips because though it is really bright it is also a gloss. I feel as though glosses wear off quicker so you don't have to be as committed and you can get away with a bright shade easier in gloss form. I don't know maybe that's just my own opinion.

THE SUBTLE STAIN

I adore this Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick Passionee You can see how beautiful it is on the lips, it has a slight sheen but it stays in place for yonks. The packaging makes it so easy to apply, I can even touch it up without a mirror and not end up looking like a clown.

THE MOISTURISING ONE

Ah yet another Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter. What can I say? They're my favourite. This time the praise is going to Lollipop It's quite pigmented but it is creamy so it can be applied full on (as it is in the picture above) or you can be a little more subtle. This is the perfect in between a gloss and a more matte lipstick, it's got teeny tiny flecks of shimmer that I never even noticed until taking these pictures. This is just the bomb.

THE MOST VIBRANT THING EVER

Excuse my shotty application, this was the last swatch I did and by this point my lips were hurting a little and I was over applying lip products. That's one way to turn me off buying more lipstick. This Rimmel Apocalips in Apocaliptic is seriously in your face. It's definitely not for the faint of heart. I really like it though and I feel it is a great way to spruce up an otherwise boring outfit. This formula goes on quite glossy like you see here but after a while it dries down and it is so hard to remove! Thats a good thing for long nights out but when you're doing a harmless swatch it can get on your nerves.

Here are my top four bright pink lip products. What's your favourite? I'm always looking for the next best thing!

They Made Me Buy It: MAC Creme Cup

I realise that the name of this post may be a bit confusing. Who made me buy MAC Creme Cup? Did someone forcibly make me buy a lipstick? No. I'm going to use this title for when I'm reviewing something majorly hyped up. Something that the world of beauty bloggers/vloggers/enthusiasts told me is amazing.

For the first of these posts I'm going to talk about the much loved MAC Creme Cup Lipstick. Heck, when I bought it the girl in the shop told be it was her favourite. It is a really lovely lipstick and I think it was a good first entry into the world of MAC Lipsticks. There are a lot to choose from and it can be a bit overwhelming, but choosing a highly recommended product makes life a lot easier.

It is a nice creamy formula that doesn't dry matte and make your lips all chapped, this is the good thing about the cream sheen lipsticks. The only issue I found was that because it is so creamy it doesn't stay on for very long. After an hour or so it will definitely need reapplication because it will be completely gone. That doesn't bother me because MAC doesn't claim it to be a long lasting lipstick. As long as they aren't advertising it as one thing and it's doing another, I can't hold it against them.

The colour is a good pinky-nude for my skin tone. With really pale skin and pink lips, brown nudes can often make me look ridiculous. This soft pink shade works really well because it's subtle. I wouldn't call it a 'your lips but better' but it works for me. If I'm looking particularly sickly one day (which I do quite often - one of the many downsides of being pale) it may wash me out slightly, but for the most part it is really nice.

The packaging is really sleek, as MAC Lipsticks always are, and it's perfect for my handbag. I will have to watch out when it comes to summer time because I see the creamy formula melting easily, for Winter it's perfect though. An every day shade that will work with everything.

I'll have to say I agree with the hype on this one. Those beauty people haven't steered me wrong yet.

Lots of Love,

Shannon

Two Quick Lip Scrubs

Before I spend the rest of the week telling you about pretty things to put on your lips, I figured I should give you some suggestions on how to prep them first. I know it's easy to go out to Lush or somewhere and buy yourself a nice scrub but here are  two super quick and super simple lip scrub recipes for you. Even better than from the shops.

Recipe 1: The All Natural

Sugar to scrub, vegetable oil to moisturise and honey for flavour. Chuck it all into a little bowl and stir, you'll have enough for a few people from this recipe. It's all natural so you can lick it off your lips if you want!

Recipe 2: The Even Easier One

Just turn your normal lip balm into a scrub by mixing a little sugar into it. The only downside is that most balms aren't edible so you will have to wash this one off. I use a balm that I don't really like, this is one from The Body Shop that leaves your lips looking white and it doesn't moisturise overly well. Using it as a lip scrub is a great way to use it up.

You just get a little bit of the scrub of your choosing and massage it all over your lips. Top it all off with a coat of lip balm and you're lips should be totally kissable. Peace of cake.

Lip Product Addict Tag

I know that I shouldn't do two tags in a row, but the Disney one was largely unplanned. This one, on the other hand, is a part of a perfectly orchestrated plan. Ladies and gentlemen (assuming the only gentleman reading this is my Dad...) welcome to Lip Week here on Lots of Love, Shannon.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BALM/ TREATMENT?

I've talked about this before so I wont go on and on. This Lucas' Pawpaw Ointment is just the best balm ever, it's one of those multi purpose ones that can bring you back from the dead but I use it only on my lips and it works wonders.

BEST EYE CATCHING RED?

I'm not that much of a red lipstick kinda person. Being a 16 year old who stays home most of the time, I don't often find a chance to wear it. That being said I picked up this L'Oreal Colour Riche Moisture Matte Lipstick in Flaming Kiss (I originally wanted the darker red, Bloody Mary, but it was all sold out) the other day and it's really beautiful. It's a super bright fire engine red that's definitely eye catching. The formula of this is also great, matte but not so matte that it dries out your lips and leaves them feeling gross.

BEST LUXURY?

Chanel Lipsticks all the way baby. The packaging is gorgeous, the formulation is amazing (especially of the Rouge Coco Shine ones) and they make you feel so fancy. The one on the left is Rouge Coco Shine in Candelir and it's actually my Mums but the colour is so nice that I'm going to have to pick it up for myself in the near future. The one on the right is my own and it is Rouge Allure in Surprenante.

BEST DRUGSTORE?

Revlon win this one hands down. As you can see I really enjoy their Colorburst Lip Butters I have them in the shades (from left to right) Sugar Frosting, Strawberry Shortcake, Lollipop, Tutti Fruitti and Candy Apple. They also make lots of other good lip products that are worth checking out. Rimmel is also really good in the lip department but I own a LOT of Revlon.

FAVOURITE MAC LIPSTICK?

You will be hearing more about this lipstick this week but my favourite MAC Lipstick is Creme Cup. It's a really pretty pinky nude and quite frankly the only one I own. I do have a list of other MAC Lipsticks I'm eager to try though.

MOST DISAPPOINTING?

This double ended Michael Kors number really disappointed me. I'm not even sure where I got it but the lip gloss is really sticky and it smells awful. There's not much pigmentation so it comes off as more of a clear gloss rather than the pretty nude you would think. On top of all that the roller ball of perfume on the other end doesn't smell very nice either. I'm really sad that such a nice brand put out such a crappy product.

LINER - YES OR NO?

No thank you. I'm not a liner kind of girl.

BEST LIPGLOSS?

I've spoken about these before but I really do love Maybelline The Elixir glosses. They smell yummy, aren't too sticky, have great pigmentation and I love the packaging. Basically they're everything the Michael Kors one is not.

SOMETHING EXTRA?

I know I spoke about the Revlon products before but I wanted to especially highlight these chubby stick kinda things. The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in Lovesick and the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in both Unapologetic and Shameless. They're just the perfect bright lips to throw in your handbag and go because they're not too drying and the way they're designed makes them so easy to apply. I really want to try a similar thing from a different brand and also a more nude colour, that's how much I like these.

As you may have noticed I really like lip products and I keep finding more and more I want to buy. It's probably a bit of a problem if I'm being honest. What's your favourite lip product? Give me some more things to add to my list in the comments.

Lots of Love,

The Disney Tag

I thought I would do this cute little tag as a bit of an extra post because I'm just so excited to write it. I got the idea from Jesstastics (HERE) and once I read it I got straight to writing this one. It's going to be tough to choose just one answer for all of these questions but I'll try my best...

1. Favourite Disney film?

Starting off with the hardest one of all!  I'm going to have to cheat and go with two: The Lion King and Dumbo. I love all of the characters and music in The Lion King and Dumbo was always my favourite growing up.

2. Favourite Disney Character?

This is another toss up. I love Stitch from Lilo and Stitch because he's so adorable and I love the way he turns his life around, I think thats a great lesson to teach kids. Plus the line 'Ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten' will always be in my heart and I will always try my hardest to live by it. That being said I also really love Goofy, I remember watching the Goofy Movie on VHS over and over and over as a little kid. I think Stitch has this one by a (very cute) nose.

3. Favourite Disney Princess?

I'm giving this one to Ariel, even though out of all the princesses she probably makes the worst decisions for herself. I didn't know that as a kid so I loved her unconditionally, plus she's gorgeous. I hate when cartoons are prettier than me.

4. Favourite Disney Prince?

Does Kristoff from Frozen count as a prince? Because he's adorable and he gives Ana the respect she deserves unlike that ass hat Hans. At the end when he asks to kiss her is like the cutest thing ever. On the flip side, if I had to choose an 'actual' prince I'd go with Flyn Rider. He's funny, dashing and a little up himself. Everything I'd want my prince to be and more.

5. Would you rather be Aurora or Cinderella?

Cinderella - post wicked step mother/ scrubbing floors but pre bippity boppity boom please. I may like a good beauty sleep but I couldn't deal being Aurora.

6. Would you rather be Hercules or Tarzan?

Hercules scared me as a child and I've never watched it since. I vaguely remember something about a demon...a gay demon...maybe I'm making that up. Anyway, I'd definitely go with my main man Tarzan.

7. Rather be Lizzie McGuire or Raven Baxter?

Oh snap! That's a hard one to choose. I adored both of those pig tailed teenagers when I was a wipper snapper but I'll have to go with Lizzie McGuire. The responsibility of having those visions of the future would be too much for me.

8. Favourite Disney song?

I've changed my mind. This one is the hardest. There's too many options! I'm going to have to choose Under the Sea. No. Let It Go. No. The entire soundtrack to High School Musical. No. Hakuna Matata. Oh my goodness I have no way of whittling this one down.

9. Which Disney character would be your best friend?

Saying the entire cast of Frozen would probably be cheating so I'm going to say just Ana from Frozen. I feel as though her spontaneity mixed with my distaste for anything outside of my comfort zone could even us both out. I can just imagine us singing beautiful duets together while braiding each others hair...

She looks like a great bff and I'd get Olaf too!
10. Which Disney character would be your pet?

Thumper from Bambi is adorable so I'd need him to be my snuggly little bunny rabbit.

11. Have you ever been to Disneyland?

I actually went to Disney World a couple of months ago and I can't wait to go back. The most magical place on earth indeed.

12. Favourite Disney TV Show?

Kim Possible by far, I absolutely love that show. There's not an episode that I haven't seen and not a word of the theme song that I don't know. It even made me want to own a naked mole rat for a short time there.

I don't even care if all of my readers (including you Dad) totally hated that Disney-fest because I LOVED it. There's nothing I like more than a good old trip down Disney memory lane.
