Beauty Interview with Honeypot Blogs

This week's beauty interview is with Honeypot Blogs and I couldn't be happier about it. Another blogging newbie who is already finding amazing success, which she totally deserves. Her blog is great with mostly honest, well photographed reviews of beauty products and a few different types of posts added in there. She is a lovely girl and (as you can see in the picture above) quite the beauty. Lets see her answers to my beauty interview:

(My questions will be the bits in bold and Toni's unedited answers will be underneath)

1. What is the first piece of makeup you remember owning?

It has to be a collection 2000 eyeliner pencil. This was the first piece of make-up I really started experimenting with, I definitely when through the grungy teenage phase, where the more black eyeliner I had the better.

2. What is the number one beauty product on your wishlist at the moment?

I am really in love with the Naked 3 palette, I need it, every bone in my body needs it but I've been very good and not bought it…yet.

3. How many different foundations do you own and which is your favourite?

To be honest, I only own two right now because I blend them together to create a really nice look. I have the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation which I absolutely love but it’s just a fraction too light for my skin tone so I mix it up with Max Factor Lasting Performance foundation which is really long wearing.

4. What is the type of beauty product you hoard the most?

I have a stupid amount of lip products that I never use, I love lipsticks but can never find the right shade. I rubbish at remembering to re-apply them as well which makes it pointless in me buying them…but they’re just so pretty.

5. How many steps do you have in your morning skincare routine?

How about your evening skincare routine? I am very fussy about what goes on my face and actually I choose to use very few products, I love the Simple face scrub but I only use this twice a week, sometimes 3 times if I feel my face needs it. I moisturise every day and night this is very important to me and I use Simple Deep Cleansing face mask once a week. That's it!

Now onto a few quick-fire this or that questions:

1. MAC or Nars? Nars, I want everything Nars
2. Rimmel or Revlon? Rimmel, I don’t even own a Revlon product.
3. Mascara or Concealer? Mascara, I would literally be lost without my mascara, I have blonde eyelashes so I look like an alien without it.
4. Skincare or Haircare? Skincare
5. Purifying mask or hydrating mask? Purifying Mask
6. High end or Drugstore? High End though I clearly only have Drugstore products right now.
7. Blog or Vlog?  I love watching vlogs but would never do one so I’m gonna have to say blogs
8. Hair up or hair down? Hair down.
9. Red or Pink Lipstick? Red, though I would never be able to confidently pull off wearing red lipstick
10. Highlight or Contour? Contour, to fake gorgeous cheek bones of course

Back to me, I would like to thank Toni participating in my little questionnaire. Make sure to check out her BLOG and give it plenty of love!

A Mini MAC Haul

Okay. From now on I am on a REAL spending ban. I have no real reason for why I placed a cheeky online MAC order a couple of weeks ago, other than that I really wanted it. I've had my eye on this palette for a couple of months and I decided to bite the bullet and pick it up before it disappeared forever. The lipstick was just because I wanted to reach the quota for free postage...pathetic I know. That being said, they're amazing products so I'm glad I've got them.

Sharon Osbourne Eyeshadow Quad
The fact that this is Sharon Osbourne's collection is a bit odd, she's not exactly a person I have anything in common with, except for eyeshadow choices apparently. As MAC eyeshadows are, these are creamy, blendable and perfect. I think that is just a given by now. I find the vast numbers of MAC shadows quite overwhelming so these pre-made quads are the best way for me to try them out. These colours are all really wearable, the bottom left is slightly orange toned which is different to anything else I have.

Pink Pearl Pop Lipstick
I love the diversity of this lipstick. It can be worn full on for a pink pearl pop (hehe) or it can be warn patted onto the lips with a bit of gloss or lipbalm over the top. Much like the eyeshadows, the cremesheen formula is tried and tested. It's not too matte but not glossy, it's a nice middle ground. I've been keeping this in my handbag because it goes with just about everything and can really brighten up my face.

There's always about a million things I want from MAC, there's so much choice! This is what I chose and I'm really happy with it.

Beauty Interview with Myself

Too much me, I'm so sorry

So I figured before I come back next week with another interview with an amazing blogger, I should share my own answers to this little set of questions. I'm not going to gush about myself as I do with the others because they deserve it far more than I. Here we go!

1. What is the first piece of makeup you remember owning?

While I don't know exactly what it was,  I remember owning a lot of gross sticky lip glosses as a kid. They were all probably horrendous colours but they made me feel like a big girl and I would carry them around in a handbag. That handbag also held an empty wallet and nothing else.

2. What is the number one beauty product on your wishlist at the moment?

I actually put up a wishlist post on Wednesday so you should totally check that out HERE. The number one thing on my wishlist is probably...hmm that's tough because like Sharpay, I want it all...I'm going to have to go with the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. It's raved about and it's Chanel and it seems absolutely perfect.

3. How many different foundations do you own and which is your favourite?

I own four foundations plus a couple of BB/CC creams. My favourite would have to be the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation as it is my everyday staple, I'm still looking for the absolute perfect one though (Chanel Vitalumiere, I'm coming for you).

4. What is the type of beauty product you hoard the most?

This is easy, lip products. I hoard all beauty products but my lip drawer is by far the most full. I own all sorts of colours and finishes and I just keep wanting more. I wouldn't say it was a full blown issue yet but it's getting there.

5. How many steps do you have in your morning skincare routine? How about your evening skincare routine?

My morning skincare goes; cleanse, tone and moisturise. That's three really quick and easy steps (especially since I cleanse in the shower, a time saving tip for you). At night things get a bit more complicated I will; Remove my makeup with one cleanser, cleanse again, tone, moisturise and then use a calming eye cream. There's also alternates that I only use sometimes such as masks, exfoliating brushes and facial oils which will add an extra step. I would say there's usually six steps in my nightly skincare regime.

1. MAC or Nars? MAC. I own a few of their products and an in love, Nars is still drool-worthy though.
2. Rimmel or Revlon? Hmm Rimmel. Just because they have more products in my daily routine.
3. Mascara or Concealer? Mascara. My blonde lashes look weird without it.
4. Skincare or Haircare? Another tough one! Skincare probably, because I actually enjoy doing that.
5. Purifying mask or hydrating mask? Purifying Mask. I love how clean my skin feels afterwards.
6. High end or Drugstore? High end. I'm a sucker.
7. Blog or Vlog? (both to watch and make) I'm going to have to go with Vlog. Sorry, not sorry.
8. Hair up or hair down? Hair down because it covers up my Dumbo ears.
9. Red or Pink Lipstick? Pink because it can be natural OR bright.
10. Highlight or Contour? Highlight because I still have no clue how to contour.

Now you know my answers, I'm sure you will sleep better at night. If you haven't read last weeks interview with Simple Beauty Chatter check it out HERE and next week there will be other with someone awesome.

Lust List

It has been a couple of months since my last Lust List and I've picked up half of the items on there, which I consider to be pretty good. So far I have the Origins Clear Improvement Mask, Stila Liquid Eyeliner in Midnight and Body Shop Honey Bonzing Powder, all of which are fabulous. The two Chanel products and the Too Faced eyeshadows are still on the list but I have a few more to add.

Benefit Gimme Brow
With my newfound eyebrow addiction, I find myself having to fill them in everyday. I don't mind this much as my current brow product is pretty damn good, but as the laziest human being on the planet if there's something easier I would prefer that. I mostly need colour over shape, so I think this product would be good on more natural days and then I can layer it with a pencil when I'm feeling something bolder.

Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream
The way that this comes out white and then changes to skin colour fascinates me, I think it is my inner nerd coming out in full force. I don't understand how or why but I do know that I really want this. Plus I've been wearing foundation everyday lately because all BB/CC creams I own are too dark for my current mid-winter Edward Cullen-esque skin tone and I'm looking for something a bit lighter.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush
Look at it. That's why I want it. *heart eyes emoji*

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick
I haven't seen too many reviews of this but every time I'm trawling the Sephora or Mecca websites I keep coming back to these. I love the idea that they are liquified lipsticks, it's kinda macabe but I quite enjoy the picture of them slowly melting down proper lipsticks. The colours are really pretty and they appear to be long lasting, what more could I want?

Nars Blush in Deep Throat
I've become more interested in blush recently and I think this might be one of the next ones added to my non-existent collection. The name is a bit iffy (why do they insist on the sexual innuendos in makeup product names?!) but the shimmery peach colour is simply perfect.

Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil Protective Primer
My current heat protectant is nearly run out and it doesn't appear to have done anything, as my hair just keeps dying more and more. I've been looking up some better options and this new range from Bumble and Bumble keeps popping up with rave reviews. It's a lot of money for a tiny bottle but maybe one day...

I'm attempting not to buy any of these until the school holidays, by then I figure I will be able to treat myself to one (or, lets face it, more than one). The hardest bit will be deciding which product I need in my life the most.

What's the number one thing on your wishlist? I love knowing what everyone else is lusting after.

Trends to Try Outfits

Above is the first (and my favourite) of the outfits I have compiled to go along with my Trends to Try post from a couple of weeks back. I have taken one of the pieces I chose for each trend and made up a little outfit for the way I would wear them. I am loving the colour red at the moment, so incorporating the colour red into this look with the dungarees is totally something I would wear. It's a bit skater-girl but the structured bag gives it some class.

I probably wouldn't actually wear the hat with this look, I'm certainly not cool enough for it, but I think it would totally go. A crop top, pair of high-waisted jeans and sneakers is a really nice casual outfit.

For a more girly option, this floral dress can be worn with some white accessories and a light wash of colour on the lips. This is perfect for any occasion; a picnic, shopping or even a day-time party. The cat eye sunglasses will also attract some attention to your face.

This is a super casual look because I think kimono's look best when paired with a nice plain outfit. Just wear jeans and a singlet then let the awesome kimono do all the talking.

Finally, I've got a more dressy option. These pants can be worn in casual settings too but I thought I would give a fancy option with a nice blazer and a strong red lip.

I love doing these fashion posts, I feel as though they add a little something different to the blog. I'm by no means an expert fashionista, but I give it a go.

Beauty Interview with Simple Beauty Chatter

I'm excited to begin a new series on LOLS called 'Beauty Interviews'! I am going to be asking some of my favourite bloggers a set of questions and getting their opinions on all things beauty. First up is the beautiful Chloe from Simple Beauty Chatter. I am lucky enough to have connected with her over Twitter after reading her blog and watching her Youtube videos. She's hilarious, talented and very interesting (not matter how much she insists otherwise) and it's no wonder her blog is succeeding the way it is. Enough of my gushing, let's get into the questions:

(My questions will be the bits in bold and Chloe's unedited answers will be underneath)

1.What is the first piece of makeup you remember owning?

My first piece of make up was a BRIGHT ORANGE foundation from collection 2000. I was in year 7/8 at school and people said I looked pale so I decided to buy this....looking back, i made an umpa lumpa look pale! *face palm*

2. What is the number one beauty product on your wishlist at the moment?

I have a few items on my beauty wishlist at the moment as I am trying to be good and not buy EVERYTHING but the top item has to be the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette! Why cant I own it already....

3. How many different foundations do you own and which is your favourite?

I currently own 3 foundations: SEVENTEEN Stay time, NO7 Stay Perfect and Rimmel Match Perfection. My favourite is the Rimmel Match Perfection as it is a light foundation, perfect for summer and has a good finish/ colour match! In the winter I use the SEVENTEEN one as it is full coverage.

4. What is the type of beauty product you hoard the most?

This has definitely got to be eye shadow palettes! I recently bought some make-up storage and could not fit all my eye shadows in one drawer so had to pick my favourites! Stupid cheap offers making me buy more pffft!

5. How many steps do you have in your morning skincare routine? How about your evening skincare routine?

Woah this could take some time! Okay so....in the morning I rinse my face with warm water to open my pores. I then use a face wash, at the moment I am loving make-up revolutions anti bacterial facewash which is a cleanser and toner! After that I dry my face and wipe over my T-Zones with Boots deep cleanser to help black heads and blockages (ew that sounds gross). I then apply Simples rich moisturiser; which can I say is AMAZING!

In the evening after removing my make-up I use a face wash to wash my face and again apply moisturiser. I also every friday apply a facemask.

This makes me sound really good but honestly Im lazy and forget to do this a lot....yay for breakouts.

Now onto a few quick-fire this or that questions:

1. MAC or Nars? MAC!

2. Rimmel or Revlon? Rimmel

3. Mascara or Concealer? Concealer...im like a dot to dot!

4. Skincare or Haircare? Omg...why do this to me. Urm ill say hair care because I dye it a lot?

5. Purifying mask or hydrating mask? Hydrating mask!

6. High end or Drugstore? Drug store (because I'm poor lol)

7. Blog or Vlog? (both to watch and make) VLOG! I find them more entertaining to make and view :)

8. Hair up or hair down? Down...I'm not Phil Mitchel! (If your not English, its basically a chubby bald man off a TV programme) google him.

9. Red or Pink Lipstick? I cannot pull of lipstick...but Red.

10. Highlight or Contour? Contour!

Now back to me: Thank you so much to Chloe for participating in something a little different. Make sure you check out both her BLOG and her YOUTUBE, you won't be disappointed.

Steal Her Style: Kylie Jenner

Source
If I had to choose a 'style icon', Kylie Jenner would be one of the first people to come to mind. Something about her bad-ass look is so appealing to me. One of my favourite outfits she has ever warn is this one, because she is still keeping with her style but mixing in a bit of colour and pattern. She often wears all black or monochrome so it was nice to see her mixing things up. And, most importantly, that hair though. If only I could get those effortless waves.

Shorts: American Apparel High Waist Shorts in Watermelon (these are the ACTUAL thing!)

Top: Ribbed Crop Vest

Sunglasses: Ray-Ban RB3447 - 001 in Round Metal

Bag: Minimalist Faux Leather Satchel

Boots: Faux Leather Lace-Up Booties

Keyring: Home Keyring in Teal/Cloud

Bracelet: Silver Lineal Cuff

This isn't the cheapest steal her style I've ever done, but I'm sure it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the actual things. This is another outfit that would be easy to recreate with pieces from home, any plain shirt and patterned shorts will give a similar effect.

Rose Gold Goodness

I've got some more brush love to share with you today. If you watched my recent haul on my Youtube channel (shameless plug), you will know that I recently purchased this beautiful Rose Gold Brush Set from Zoeva. It's very reasonably priced, at roughly $95 AUD for eight brushes compared to $76 AUD for ONE MAC Brush. They're really good quality, some brushes are softer than others but that is to be expected. They're also good to wash. In short, I love them. For a more in depth explanation, I'm going to give a run down on each of the brushes:

Silk Finish Brush
This is a foundation brush that is like the Real Techniques Buffing Brush I love so much. I find myself alternating between the two without noticing any outstanding differences. It has really thick bristles that apply the foundation over the face evenly and then buff them in to give a 'silk finish' - hence the name.

Face Shape
By the name of this brush I presume that it is supposed to be for contouring, but I break all of the rules and use it for something else entirely. This is like a mini version of the silk finish brush, a thickly packed, really soft brush that is great for buffing things in. I use this mainly for concealer but I have even used it for foundation when I'm in a pinch. This is by far the best concealer brush I've ever used and it's probably my favourite of the set.

Concealer Buffer
This is your more traditional concealer brush, it's good but not as good as the face shape. It's better for pin-pointing the product and lightly buffing it in, but if you want a really flawless finish it's not the brush to go for as it can leave it slightly streaky because the brush is small. When I use this I go over the top with my foundation brush or fingers to even everything out.

Luxe Petit Crease
This was the brush that lured me into buying this set, as I've been looking for a tapered crease brush for a while. I don't have a very large eyelid or defined crease so I like to use this smaller brush to add product to my crease. I find using larger brushes for these looks often just takes the crease shade all over the lid rather than focusing it. This brush has been my saviour in that respect, and though not the softest, it does the job perfectly.

Luxe Soft Definer
Perfect for blending all over the lid and adding subtle colour in the crease. It can leave a really natural finish or blend out a smoky eye so that it looks seamless.

Wing Liner
I love this brush for when I use an eyeshadow along my lash line because it is so easy to apply. It has a nice small head so that it can be used for both lining the eyes and filling in your eyebrows.

Powder
This powder brush isn't super huge like some tend to be, it's a nice manageable size to focus the powder in your t-zone. It's also super soft so it makes powder a joy to apply in the morning. I tend to use this when I want a more all-over powder and I stick to my Real Techniques Contour Brush when I just want it around my nose.

Luxe Sheer Cheek
I'm a bit of a newbie at applying blush but this brush makes it so much easier. It gives a really sheer sweep of colour on the cheeks and it shapes it for you, making it almost impossible to stuff up. If you don't want a super sheer finish, just add another layer and build it up.

All up, I'm in love with these brushes. They're soft, useful and gorgeous: what more would you want?

How Long Does It Take to Do My Makeup?

Hey guys! It's been a while, but I'm back and though I'm still super busy (I don't know how I'm going to cope when I'm an actual adult with responsibilities and stuff) I'm looking forward to putting some of my new ideas into action.

Now onto the point. The other day I was milling over the idea of filming an 'everyday makeup tutorial' and started thinking about how long it takes me to do my makeup. I then realised that it varies DRAMATICALLY from weekdays to weekends. During the week I don't bother with much, it's just school after all, but on weekends I at least shove on a little eyeliner to make myself look more presentable.

I timed myself doing my fancy-schmansy going out makeup and doing my average school makeup, so let's crunch the numbers!

No I didn't totally forget to put the total in these pictures (I did, I really did). And the total is 31 minutes on the dot. Not too bad but not the fastest thing ever. Obviously, I put the most effort into my eyes on this day. I went with quite a full on eyeshadow/liquid liner/mascara/kohl liner/make mistakes and have to wipe off look, which took some time to perfect.

Don't mind the fact that my dog gnawed on my lip balm...pets really do whatever they want
This look took me a whole of 6 minutes and 3 seconds, a bit less than the previous look. In the mornings I leave myself about ten minutes to get myself looking presentable and I've perfected it so I take even less. Go me!
