Free Your Pores

Before we start I just want to remind you that I have a huge giveaway going on RIGHT NOW! Make sure you click the link HERE and go enter before time runs out. I promise it will be worth it. Now on with the show...

For the past couple of months I have been lucky enough to test out the Bioré charcoal range. I have never been that into drugstore skincare so I was super interested to give this a go, especially because it was a cohesive range of products to be used in conjunction with each other. Overall, I have had a super positive experience using these products and definitely recommend them but let's get into a bit more detail.

Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser*
This appears to be a very stock standard cleanser. It is a gel formula with a light charcoal colour that foams up slightly as you massage it all over the face. It is definitely not one to remove your makeup with (if you're looking for one of those cleansers, check out my recent review HERE) because it does not break down base makeup well at all. Also, it leaves the skin feeling really fresh and almost minty when it is washed off so it cannot go anywhere near your eyes otherwise it makes them sting like a mofo. It hurts bad. As a second cleanser it works like a dream, leaving the skin feeling really clean and cleaning out my pores really well. I didn't realise how well it was working until I thought 'hmm I haven't had a massive pimple in ages', which I see as a sign of a great cleanser.

Bioré Charcoal Pore Minimiser*
I'm not exactly sure what the real purpose of this product is so I'm just going to tell you how I use it because it seems effective. It is basically a more intense version of the cleanser with tiny little exfoliating beads inside. Though it does have some exfoliating properties, I would call it more of a deep cleanser than an exfoliant. I use this twice or three times a week after the cleanser whenever my skin is feeling congested. It works wonders at really clearing my pores and it's super quick to do, it's just an extra cleanser rather than having to fuss around with a mask. I've never used anything like this and despite the fact that it exploded in the mail, it has turned out to be my favourite of the bunch.

Bioré Charcoal Nose Strips*
Unfortunately, these seem to be the runt of the litter. I'm not sure whether it is just my skin that doesn't respond to these pore strips or they just don't work because they actually make my black heads worse after use. After having to go through the pain of pulling it off my nose (it makes my eyes water every time) I expect some serious results but I am always disappointed to find only one or two black heads on the back. In the days after use my nose becomes covered in black heads to the point that they look like freckles, gross I know. Remember, all skincare products are subjective but these just didn't do it for me.

Bioré Self-Heating One Minute Mask*
On a happier note, these little sachets are super cool. This is another innovative product that I have never seen before because it tips all the usual conventions of a mask on its head. They come in individual packets that you squeeze out and massage into your face for a minute, washing it off straight afterwards. The self-heating properties always excite me for some unknown reason so that's a bonus, though once again I am not sure if it is a gimmick or not. The day after I use one of these masks my skin feels just as nice as it would if I used one of my other more traditional charcoal masks. If you want to look after your skin but you don't have time for anything fancy, these are definitely one to try.

On top of all this awesomeness I was also given the Bioré Pore Penetrating Charcoal Bar. I'm not one for trying too many skincare products at once and I couldn't really fit this into my rountine at the moment so I'm leaving it for when I'm in need. Look out for a review of this in the future if I love it as much as I love these products.

Lots of Love,

Shannon

*These products were sent to me from Bioré for review. They did not ask me to write this post nor did they influence my opinions in any way. I'm all about the honesty!

  1. Lovely honest review! I love the regular Biore pore strips so maybe these charcoal ones would work for me? Who knows! That mask sounds amazing as well
